Met de GIF-encoder in Byzanz kunnen externe aanvallers een denial of service veroorzaken (out-of-bounds heap write en crash) of mogelijk willekeurige code uitvoeren via een vervaardigde Byzanz-debuggegevensopname (ByzanzRecording-bestand) naar het byzanz-afspeelcommando.
