Er is een beveiligingsprobleem met de code-uitvoering in Studio 5000 Logix Designer® vanwege een niet-aangehaald zoekpad in de configuratie van Externe hulpprogramma's. De uitvoerbare paden die zijn opgegeven in het configuratiebestand van externe hulpprogramma's worden niet correct geciteerd en omdat deze paden spaties bevatten, kan het besturingssysteem ze omzetten in onbedoelde uitvoerbare bestanden die eerder in de zoekvolgorde zijn geplaatst. Indien misbruikt, kan een aanvaller een kwaadaardig uitvoerbaar bestand op een locatie binnen het zoekpad plaatsen, wat resulteert in willekeurige code-uitvoering met dezelfde machtigingen van de gebruiker die de applicatie uitvoert.

A code execution security issue exists within Studio 5000 Logix Designer® due to an unquoted search path in the External Tools configuration. The executable paths specified in the external tools configuration file are not properly quoted, and because these paths contain spaces, the operating system may resolve them to unintended executables placed earlier in the search order. If exploited, an attacker could plant a malicious executable in a location within the search path, resulting in arbitrary code execution with the same permissions of the user running the application.
